North Star Sails

North Sails have been developing Championship winning Star sails since Lowel North started the company back in 1958. Below are our latest recommended designs, however we still offer all our old favourite models such as the Max Roach and V-1 Mainsails and the R-2, LM-2 and J-7 Jibs. We continue to work with the World's top Star sailors developing our product to provide the ultimate range of Star sails on the market.

Mainsail (M-16)

The M-16 is the Percy and Simpson 2008 Olympic Gold medalists' all purpose mainsail. This Juan Garay design is slightly deeper in the 3/4 height compared to the old V-1 giving a little more power without being overpowered.

Mainsail (M-05)

The M-05 is a custom built light wind design for the 0-8 knot wind range. Developed for the light wind conditions of Qingdao it has less luff curve than the M-16 and was used to great effect by Percy and Simpson.

Mainsail (M-22)

The M-22 is the Juan Garay heavy airs sail, designed with more luff curve than the M-16 to compensate for the greater mast bend that stronger winds bring. It's wind range is 18+ knots.

Jib (J-115)

The J-115 Jib is our all purpose sail, designed to a similar flying shape as the old famous R-2 with the addition of a radial head. Designed for Percy, Simpson for the 2008 Games.
